The challenge

Isolating one variable — treated water — under lab-grade control.

Farm results are compelling, but cultivators and buyers increasingly want the same effect confirmed under conditions where every other variable is fixed. That was the brief for the Cannabis Research Center & Coalition: run a controlled cultivation trial that isolates Zoecore's contribution and reports what happens to biomass, yield, and cannabinoid quality.

The setup: identical 1-gallon coco coir hydroponic systems, equivalent nutrient inputs, matched environmental conditions. The only difference between the two groups was Zoecore-treated versus untreated irrigation water.

The protocol

Twelve weeks. Same nutrients. Same environment. Different water.

The 'Snowman' cultivar was grown across three phases: two weeks of propagation, two weeks of vegetative growth, and eight weeks of flowering. Both the control group and the Zoecore group received the same feeding schedule and light cycle, with dissolved oxygen (DO) measured at plant emitters throughout the trial.

Full plant biomass, dry flower weight, and dry stem weight were recorded at harvest. Cannabinoid profile (total cannabinoids, total THC, THCA) was lab-analyzed. Chlorophyll status was tracked via SPAD readings during early growth. Root systems were visually inspected at harvest.

The observations

Higher oxygen at the root zone, stronger roots, more chlorophyll early on.

Mean dissolved oxygen at plant emitters was 17.1 mg/L in the control group and 42.2 mg/L in the Zoecore group — a 2.5× increase in oxygen availability at the root zone. Visual root inspection showed Zoecore-treated plants had whiter roots, greater root density, and more abundant root hairs.

SPAD (chlorophyll) readings were significantly higher in Zoecore plants during weeks 1–2, suggesting improved establishment. Cannabinoid composition — total cannabinoids, total THC, and THCA — remained statistically unchanged between the two groups, confirming that the yield gains did not come at the cost of quality.
